Havayah Manhigut Council

Being a member of the Havayah Manhigut Council means that you are making a large commitment to the Havayah community. You will consider the big picture of Havayah, and you will work to continue helping our community grow and strengthen. This year, there are no specific Vice President roles -- instead, while filling out your application you will indicate interest areas that you are passionate about and events that you are interested in chairing. Sometimes during Council Meetings, we will break up by interest area (Spirituality and Celebration, Tikkun Olam, etc.), to brainstorm ways in which we can bring those passions to action within our community. You will also have the opportunity to serve as a chair for Havayah events and programs. You will serve as a general board member, both representing and shaping Havayah.

Commitment: Members of the Havayah Manhigut Council are expected to attend all Council meetings and applicable chair meetings (most are scheduled on Wednesday evenings), and as many Havayah programs and events as possible throughout the year. All members of Manhigut Council must also be registered for Havayah. All Havayah Manhigut are expected to attend leadership training programs scheduled throughout the year.

How to apply: Schedule a 1:1 meeting with Hannah Richman or a member of the TBE Youth Team, in order to discuss your passions and interests and to best prepare you for a role on Manhigut Council! Finally, after your 1:1, fill out the Manhigut  application by the application deadline.

Dates (Wednesdays, 7:00 - 8:00p): 2x/Month
9/5/18 (2.5 hours, training/bonding), 9/12/18, 10/3/18, 10/17/18, 10/24/18, 11/7/18, 11/28/18, 12/12/18, 1/9/19, 1/23/19, 1/30/19, 2/13/19, 2/27/19, 3/13/19, 3/27/19, 4/10/19, 4/24/19, 5/8/19, 5/22/19

Manhigut Council Member Job Description:

  • Attend all Manhigut Council Meetings;
  • meet frequently 1:1 with Senior Leadership Team Mentor;
  • serve as a liaison to the wider Havayah Community, building relationship and connections and helping to shape a safe welcoming community in all of Havayah;
  • do outreach and promotion for Havayah events and programs, in order to personally engage peers in Havayah;
  • work in partnership with the Senior Leadership Team to set the vision for Havayah;
  • Serve as a chair for a minimum of 1-2 Havayah event per year;
  • attend (the majority of) Havayah events, and serve as group leaders for many events and programs;
  • engage in a reflective process after every Havayah event or program, in order to constantly learn and improve our programming;
  • represent Havayah in the wider TBE community, upholding and the values of our community at all time;
  • lead community as a role model and mentor, modeling community building and safe space for all.
