When our Havayah teens participate in NFTY-NE, they are known as BELY. BELY is a member of NFTY Northeast (NFTY-NE). NFTY-NE brings together Reform Jewish Teens from Upstate New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and Montreal, Canada. Our members come together at many times during the year for learning, fun, worship, community service, and fellowship. NFTY-NE helps young Jewish adults build and strengthen lifetime ties with each other and Reform Judaism. NFTY-NE is comprised of nearly 1000 members from 50 active Temple Youth Groups (TYGs) spanning Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Upstate New York and Montreal, Canada. We are one of 19 regions that make up NFTY (North American Federation of Temple Youth), the youth movement of the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ - formerly the Union of American Hebrew Congregations). Havayah teens in grades 9-12 are eligible to attend NFTY events!
Visit our Havayah Events page for details and registration links for upcoming regional and region-wide events.
More information about the exciting upcoming NFTY Northeast events is available on our region's website. To obtain the username/password so you can register, contact Brett Lubarsky today!
There are multiple opportunities for Havayah (BELY) teens who are interested in assuming leadership positions in NFTY. Freshmen and sophomores are encouraged to join networks and committees, ranging from social action to songleading to writing for the regional newsletter. Juniors and seniors are eligible to be selected as Prayer Coordinators and Overalls for NFTY Northeast Institutes, held in August and December. For more information on how you can become more involved at the regional level, contact Becca Jacobs, Jessica Friedman or Brett Lubarsky.
