Havayah (Hebrew for experience) is Temple Beth Elohim's Teen Community for Grades 8-12. Havayah is a truly exceptional and non-judgmental community, one where teens can bring their full selves and where they can be welcomed and supported in times of joy and sorrow by a warm and loving Jewish community. When our teens participate in Havayah, they learn about and connect to Jewish life by actively experiencing it! Havayah combines the best of experiential informal education in a cohesive program that fosters Jewish identity development, community-building, leadership skills and deep connection to Jewish life. Teens participate in Havayah through Chavurot (interest based groups), Shabbatonim (retreats), Shabbat, Holiday celebrations, Tikkun Olam (repairing the world) and Social Events, and through Manhigut (Leadership).
We have several exciting NEW Chavurot that we are launching this year! These Chavurot include Teva, a nature and hiking Chavurah, Sicha, an Israel Dialogue Group, and a few opportunities to study in an inter-generational setting with our Rabbis and adults in the TBE Community! Finally, each teen participates in Havayah in his or her own unique way, and we would love to take each teen out for froyo or Starbucks so we can help craft an individual Jewish Journey in Havayah! Please reach out »
